Make your school plastic free

Student in classroom

The Plastic Pollution Coalition and PLAN have created the Plastic Free Schools programme, which aims to measurably reduce plastic pollution on school campuses around the world

The average secondary school produces 22kg of waste per pupil each academic year. The figure for primary schools is even higher at 45kg per pupil.

  • Includes a free comprehensive guide (English and Spanish) to going plastic-free
  • Any school or student group is eligible to join
  • Flexible to the plastic goals of your school

  • Requires commitment – there are specific detailed steps that need to be completed, including a waste audit!

Making a difference

In 2018, the UK Education Secretary urged all schools across the country to eliminate their use of single use plastics by 2022.
