A shared vision for a cleaner ocean

Ocean advocate Emily Penn and eXXpedition, an all-female sailing voyage and scientific research initiative, have partnered with industry technology innovators SAP to scale up efforts to solve ocean plastic pollution.

The partners have created the SHiFT Platform (shift.how), a digital tool designed to help people and businesses find their role in solving ocean plastic pollution, from sea to source.

There is no silver bullet to end plastic pollution. There are hundreds of ways to solve the crisis but sometimes it's hard to know where to start. The SHiFT Platform brings aspects of Emily’s SHiFT Method to life in a virtual experience by combining it with SAP Qualtrics technology. The platform helps individuals and businesses navigate hundreds of solutions to find the one that’s best for them.

This collaboration is part of SAP’s commitment to deliver a cleaner ocean by 2030. As part of this vision, SAP is focussing on key initiatives to enable a circular economy. As a business that sees 77% of the world's transaction revenue touch one of their systems, they are in a unique position to help address the challenges our ocean faces. For a cleaner ocean to be realised industry plays a huge role in giving initiatives the scale they need.

The SHiFT Platform builds upon an online toolkit developed by Emily Penn with the support of 11th Hour Racing.
