Privacy Policy
The SHiFT.how platform is a tool created by eXXpedition CIC and SAP. It is maintained by eXXpedition CIC. We will only collect information from you that we require in order to provide you with the most relevant information for your needs.
We may contact you with different types of communication:
- Platform updates
- Information on new or updated solutions
- General ocean plastic news and opportunities
- Information requests, if we need more details about a solution you have submitted
- Direct emails to you, answering specific questions you’ve asked
All our electronic newsletters contain an ‘Unsubscribe’ link offering you the opportunity to decline to receive further information if you so wish. Or, email info@shift.how and we will unsubscribe for you. We have no wish to send you information which you do not want to receive, so please get in touch with us if you have any concerns about data or you need to update your contact details.
We will not sell or lease your details to any other party.
The information we collect
Individuals who sign up to our mailing list through the SHiFT platform will have the data they give to us collected – this will always include your email address, but could also include your name, telephone number, interest areas, company and where you heard about us.
If you contact us through the online form or email us, your name and email address might be collected so we can send you relevant information at a later date related to your initial email. For example, if you contact us asking about solutions updates, we would add you to our mailing list and we would also tell you that we were doing so.
Those submitting solutions to the platform will have additional information collected for this specific purpose, for example, images and the company they are from, if relevant. The content you provide will be processed and stored electronically to allow us to include it on the platform, and share with our network and partner organisations, where appropriate. You have the right to request for content to be removed from our platform at any time.
Your data is collected by eXXpedition C.I.C. and Qualtrics – a SAP software, and will be retained and used for the purposes outlined in this privacy statement until a time that you request it to be deleted or you opt out. This is held securely by eXXpedition and will not be shared with third parties without your informed consent.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies – small text files that are placed on your machine to help the site provide a better user experience. In general, cookies are used to retain user preferences, store information for things like shopping carts, and provide anonymised tracking data to third party applications like Google Analytics. As a rule, cookies will make your browsing experience better.
On SHiFT.how, in addition to Google Analytics, we will also be recording interactions on the site via Qualtrics. This will include data on how often information is accessed and shared. This data will be used to inform us as to what is useful and what we should do more of, and provides an opportunity to make the site and solutions more useful over time.
However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others. The most effective way to do this is to disable cookies in your browser. We suggest consulting the Help section of your browser or taking a look at the About Cookies website which offers guidance for all modern browsers.
Sharing of data with our partners
eXXpedition may, at times, provide aggregated, anonymous data to sponsors and other third parties. This data will not be able to be linked to any individual. We will not sell or lease your information to any other party. If this policy is changed at any time in the future we will notify all members by email, and provide you with an opportunity to opt out of this release of information if you so wish. We cannot be responsible for the privacy practices of our partners, but we do choose our partners and sponsors very carefully to try to minimise risk.
Third party links
Our solutions include third-party links and we will sometimes share third-party links with you by email or through our newsletters, in order to promote collaboration opportunities and the sharing of relevant ocean or plastics news. We take no responsibility for the privacy policies on these third party websites.
Emails
eXXpedition will email you if you contact us directly with an enquiry on info@shift.how. You can easily unsubscribe from our emails by sending an email to info@shift.how. We will never sell or lease your personal details to anyone else. If you would like to update any of your details or check what details we have on our database, please email info@shift.how.
