Ditch six-pack rings

Six pack rings found during beach clean up

The plastic six-pack ring is ubiquitous in the soft drink and beer aisles. But many of the major companies have looked into innovative solutions to remove plastic from packs, from cardboard carriers, to stackable cans and natural adhesives.

Beverage packager HiCone packages 2,400 cans per minute using plastic six pack rings,

  • Completely eliminates single-use plastic
  • Does not require a change in behaviour from consumers
  • Depending on the chosen solution, can save money

  • Not widely adopted yet
  • Most solutions are in the development stage

Making a difference

By ditching six-pack rings, Carlsberg will reduce 1,200 tons of plastic from their supply chain annually, or the equivalent of 60 million plastic bags, once fully adopted.
